Energy storage subsidies: Recruitment for the construction support program has started!

Already from April 4, 2025 a new call for applications under the program is starting "Electricity storage facilities and related infrastructure to improve the stability of the Polish power grid"The program is implemented by the National Environmental Protection Fund. Applications are accepted within a specific deadline and require electronic submission via the application generator available on the NFEP&WM website. Funding applications can only be submitted electronically, and submission is via the application generator. Details regarding the application process, regulations, and required documents are available on the NFEP&WM website.

This is a great opportunity for companies planning to invest in modern energy solutions, such as energy storage systems. The program offers subsidies for energy storage up to 65% of the costs of building energy storage systems (BESS) with a capacity of at least 2 MW and minimum capacity 4 MWh. The subsidy covers investments implemented in Poland. The maximum subsidy amount depends on the energy storage capacity range and the power of the photovoltaic installation.

Support covers not only the construction of energy storage facilities but also the construction of connections, monitoring systems, battery containers, inverters, transformers, installation of energy storage facilities and associated infrastructure, system configuration, and certification in accordance with EU standards. Energy storage systems are supported under the program, with electricity storage facilities and energy storage facilities being key investment elements. Eligible costs also include the integration of energy storage facilities with heat storage facilities and requirements for different voltage levels. Financial support also covers heat storage facilities and heat storage facilities, which increase the energy efficiency of the investment. Particular emphasis is placed on investments in electricity storage and renewable energy sources.

📅 Application deadline: from April 4 to May 30, 2025. Applications will be accepted until the dedicated pool of funds is exhausted. The program is aimed at businesses and aims to improve the stability of the energy grid.

Introduction to the "Mój Prąd" program

The "Electricity Storage and Related Infrastructure to Improve the Stability of the Polish Power Grid" program is a cutting-edge initiative of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, which addresses the growing needs of the Polish energy market. Its primary goal is to improve the stability of the Polish power grid, increase the country's energy independence, and protect the environment and water management. The program also supports investments in renewable energy sources and electricity storage. The program is financed by the Modernization Fund and is targeted at businesses operating under the Business Law Act, excluding financial sector entities.

This program allows investors to obtain funding for the construction of modern electricity storage facilities with a capacity of at least 2 MW and a minimum capacity of 4 MWh, which must be connected to the distribution or transmission grid at any voltage level. The priority program is also financed by European funds. Support covers not only the energy storage facilities themselves but also the entire associated infrastructure to improve stability—from battery containers, inverters, and transformers, to the installation of battery modules, support systems, active and inactive protection, and the creation of remote access to devices and data.

Funding can be provided in the form of both grants and loans, depending on the needs and specific nature of the investment. Financial support can be provided in the form of both grants and loans. The aid intensity can reach up to 45% of the total investment costs, and in the case of loans, up to 100% of eligible costs can be covered. The program provides clear application procedures, and the program budget amounts to PLN 4.15 billion, the majority of which is allocated to non-repayable forms of support.

Entrepreneurs who meet certain formal requirements can apply for funding, including not being required to repay public aid and not being subject to EU sanctions. The program is also open to individuals and co-owners of single-family homes, who can benefit from thermal modernization tax relief for thermal modernization projects, including the installation of energy storage systems, heat storage systems, and thermal energy storage systems. Applications for funding can be submitted through a competitive process from April 4th to May 30th, 2025.

This program offers a real opportunity to develop modern energy storage systems, which are crucial for integrating renewable energy sources, improving the stability of the Polish grid, and building the country's energy independence. Support is also available for home energy storage systems, micro-PV installations, and wind farm investments. Thanks to support from the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, Polish entrepreneurs can become leaders in the energy transition by investing in electricity storage facilities and modern supporting infrastructure.

The thermal modernisation tax relief allows for the deduction of investment costs in energy storage from income tax, which increases the profitability of investments in energy storage and allows for better use of energy for own needs.

Introduction to Energy Storage

An energy storage system is a modern solution that allows for the storage of electricity for later use, for example, when production from photovoltaic installations is lower than current demand. Energy storage systems enable effective energy management in a household or business, which translates into increased energy independence. With the growing popularity of renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic installations, energy storage systems are becoming a key element of modern energy systems. They not only allow for the storage of energy generated on sunny or windy days but also for its use during periods of lower production or higher demand. In Poland, a growing number of individuals and companies are choosing to invest in energy storage systems, taking advantage of support programs such as the "Mój Prąd 6.0" program, which offers subsidies for electricity storage and photovoltaic micro-installations. Thanks to this solution, energy storage systems contribute to increased energy independence and efficient use of electricity.

Benefits of energy storage

Investing in an energy storage system brings a number of tangible benefits for both individual users and businesses. Primarily, an energy storage system allows for increased energy independence – it allows for the use of energy stored during periods of overproduction, significantly reducing the need to draw electricity from the grid and lowering electricity bills. Furthermore, energy storage systems enable the efficient use of surplus energy generated by photovoltaic installations, resulting in greater self-consumption and reduced energy waste. It also makes a real contribution to environmental protection – energy storage helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and supports the development of renewable energy sources. The My Electricity 6.0 program offers funding for an electricity storage system with a minimum capacity of 2 kWh, allowing for even better utilization of your own PV system and increased savings. Thanks to this financial support, investing in an energy storage system is becoming accessible to a growing number of customers, and its benefits are felt from the very first months of use.

Technical requirements

To obtain funding for an electricity storage facility under the My Electricity 6.0 program, certain technical requirements must be met. Primarily, the energy storage facility must have a minimum capacity of 2 kWh, ensuring efficient storage and use of electricity. It is also crucial that the energy storage facility complies with applicable safety and quality standards, as well as being compatible with photovoltaic or wind installations. The energy storage system must meet energy efficiency requirements, ensuring its reliability and long-term use. Under the My Electricity 6.0 program, funding for an electricity storage facility can be obtained up to PLN 16,000, covering up to 50% of eligible investment costs. This makes investing in a modern energy storage facility more cost-effective and accessible to a wide range of consumers.
